Veggie Dog Contest and Alamo Organic Feast!

 Two announcements to pass on:

First, on Saturday, June 21st, ILoveMikeLitt.com hosts the Return of the Veggie Dog Eating Contest! This year, it's a Scholz Garten near downtown, and it runs from 1PM to 4PM. You can sign up to compete on their website. Our friends at do512.com have a RSVP page where you can save a dollar on admission. Each entry comes with a free dog and free Nadamoo vegan ice cream.

The second big event is the Alamo Drafthouse at the Ritz's upcoming organic feast! I got a note from their head chef Trish Eichelberger about the very special evening; the menu is all vegetarian, and vegans can be accommodated if you let them know ahead of time. All the produce is being sourced from local organic farms, and the movie is the classic "The Incredible Shrinking Woman" staring Lily Tomlin. The event is presented by the Austin Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (AGLIFF), and it's $55 a head. I don't know the menu just yet, but I'll update here when I get it from Trish. I went to last year's organic vegetarian feast for the movie "Babe", and it was a great experience, well worth the admission fee.

This happens on Wednesday night, June 25th at 7PM. The website doesn't mention that the fest is vegetarian, but Trish assured me that it would be via email. My fiancee and I will be there, excited and hungry! There are still seats available, but I wouldn't wait too long to book them.

By the way, there will be some big changes coming soon for Veg Out! Austin that will provide more content and more community involvement. I'll post more about it as the summer progresses.
