Hideout's Veggie Menu
I stopped into The Hideout, the downtown coffeehouse/theater at 617 Congress Avenue, last night and saw they had printed menus of their food items. I immediately appreciated that each type of food was classified as either "Veggie" or "Other Than Veggie", with the veggie items taking top billing. Their sandwiches include a roasted red pepper hummus wrap, a Roma tomato sandwich that can also be made vegan by substituting soy vinaigrette for mayo, and a pimento cheese sandwich. For soups, they usually have black bean, roasted corn or lentil varieties. They also do several veggie salad of the Greek, spinach, and Italian cheese and pasta varieties. For beverages, they've got lots of coffee drinks, as well as a number of nifty blended items featuring fruit and Amy's ice cream.
If you're downtown and its lunchtime, this is a really nice place to stop, and if you're downtown later in the evening, be sure to check out their theater schedule to find some of the city's most creative improv groups performing on one of their two main stages.
