The Austin Chronicle has just put the results of their 2006 Restaurant Poll online, and there are a few surprises for vegetarians included. Highlights:

Critics Picks:
Best Vegetarian Tamales - Las Manitas Avenue Cafe
Best South Indian Vegetarian Food - Madras Pavilion
Best Low-Fat Salad Dressing - Low-Fat Lemon Vinaigrette at Baby Greens

Reader's Poll:
Best Chips & Hot Sauce - Chuy's
Best Salad & Dressing - Baby Greens
Best Tofu Dish - Veggie Heaven
Best Vegetables - Threadgill's
Best Veggie Burger - Hut's Hamburgers
Best Veggie Dish - Tie: Mother's, Veggie Heaven
Best Vegetarian Natural - Mother's Cafe & Garden
Best Place We Wish Were Still Open - West Lynn Cafe

For more categories and to see their runner ups, check out the Chronicle's article. I'll have to try out Las Manitos and Baby Greens when I get a chance to head south.

By the way, sorry for not updating lately. Life has been very busy, but I'm planning on writing articles soon about Pei Wei's pressed tofu dishes, where to find the best black bean nachos in town, and how much I love Tom's Tabooley deli rack stuff. Your suggestions are always welcome!

What happened to the West Lynn Cafe?

I see the two great veggie places East of IH35 got blanked out.

West Lynn closed, the owners consolidated some of their menu items to Mother's, and it's now Cosmic Cafe, a veggie Indian place.

Besides Mr. Natural, what's the other east Austin place?
