The Thai That Binds

Veg Out! Austin correspondent April recently visited Ka Prow, the new Thai restaurant in north Austin at IH-35 and Howard Lane. She has a very positive report:

Oh, baby....I think I'm in love..

I had the Dune Roll, a vegan sushi roll filled with veggie tempura and topped with thin slices of fried tofu and a teriyaki sauce. This was, simply put, bliss on a plate. The tofu was slightly crispy and firm, the tempura was yummy, and the sauce was a perfect compliment. John had the Mussamun Curry with tofu, and said it was amazing. I tried some of the tofu and sauce, and it was very flavorful and mildly spiced. Chris had another curry (though I can't remember which), and he loved it, though he said it could have been spicier (I'd just about agree, but it was considerably better than many of the curries I've had lately). We all split the veggie egg rolls (vegan!) for an appetizer, which were likewise yummy.

That sounds quite excellent. I visited back at the end of November for lunch and enjoyed my meal, so with this encouragement, I'm sure I'll be heading over again soon. Thanks for the report.

I've been to Ka-Prow once and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. They are very veggie friendly and have lots of items for carnivorous dining partners as well. I would have to say that the veggie rolls as an appetizer are probably some of the best vegetarian egg rolls in all of Austin. Those at Sunflower (Vietnamese) are the only ones that are on par.

Okay, I admit I'm not a vegetarian, but I still like your reviews. Ka-Prow is great. Also, it's been awhile since we've gone on Friday night, but they used to have live jazz during dinner.
