Back with Some Linkage
Hey, everyone! I've missed you. Work has kept me very busy, and the holiday season had me out of town for most of December, so I've not had much to write about. Fortunately, Austinist's Allison has writing about veggie dining in her restaurant reviews. Here are some links to her recent pieces along with my reaction.
Texicali Grille - I visited this place after her recommendation, and I found it to be fairly good and reasonably veggie friendly. My companion and I really liked the cheese fries. There weren't many vegan menu items.
Texas Chili Parlor - I've been here once when I was meeting some friends who were working at the Capitol. The veggie chili was good, but lacked a lot in the spice department. I'd go back if I was in the area and I couldn't convince my friends to go to Veggie Heaven (just a few blocks north) instead.
The Frisco - I'm really not surprised to learn that this isn't a veggie friendly place. If you're stuck in the 50's, non-meat eaters just don't seem to be a priority. I don't think I'll be going there anytime soon.
Red Robin - I'm glad to see that this chain has yummy garden burgers and good fries. My friends in South Austin who've been did complain about the crowds, so it might be better to try them on an off night if you don't like long waits and hurried service.
