Indian Food in the News
I had lunch today at Bombay Bistro, the new Indian restaurant that's opened in the location of the old Souper Salad at Braker and 183, in the shopping plaza between the HEB grocery store and the Hollywood Video. I got there about 1:15PM; they're open for lunch from 11 to 2. The buffet was fairly standard north Indian fare, with a nice dal curry, creamy palak paneer, vegetable korma, a couple of soups, and other small dishes. The meal comes with a basket of naan that is delivered to your table. I liked everything I tried, and the spice level was detectable, but not over-the-top. They also have a large menu for dinner and take-out with many vegetarian items. I'll certainly return sometime soon, maybe for dinner, and write up a review soon.
The other bit of news about Indian food is from Masala Wok. They are running a dine-in special right now where you get an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert for $10. This is quite a good deal. I went on Sunday night and had their spinach paneer with samosas and kheer (rice pudding), and I had enough left over for lunch the next day. They also have a new vegetable korma dish that my friend Patrick really enjoyed.

I just heard about Bombay Bistro from an Indian friend of mine. He said it was good. But he has led me astray before (like the time he told me to eat at Masala Wok---AWFUL!!!)
well, i had dinner at bombay bistro tonight, food was very good, worth trying out. I would rate this place next to clay pitt for the taste and the good ambience.
The food at Bombay Bistro is average. Nothing close to anything authentic! The prices are slightly steep for a restaurant at a strip mall. The wait time is horribly long. Staff are very cordial. Overall I'd give a 5.0/10.
