Veggie Heaven keychainThis small restaurant on the south end of the UTexas Drag is strict vegetarian Chinese with a unusual slant. Their menu is filled with items like Fire Dragon Tofu and Healthy Booster. Dishes come with white or brown rice, and the waitstaff is knowledgable about special dietary needs (like which dishes have wheat gluten). The spice level isn't very high, but everything I've tried has been tasty. ($10)

Hello,
I find every time I've eaten here I get a stomachache from the large amounts of oil they use, I'm curious which oil they do use, however the meals are very tasty, just too oily for myself, who has a cast-iron stomach...Peace

I feel your comments do not give Veggie Heaven the credit it deserves. This place isn't just good, it will make a junkie out of you. Some friends and I came down to Austin for the SXSW festival and we ate at Veggie Heaven 3 out of the 4 days we stayed there. I still dream about it today. I recommend the Protein 2000 (Harry's favorite) or the spinach quesadillas...and although you COULD spend $10 there, you don't have to spend more than $6.

This is one of our favorite veg restaurants in town! I highly recommend it as long as you're into funky smallish restaurants. There's lots more to pick from than just tofu dishes, which is a nice change of pace, and it's always great to have an entire menu that's veg.

This place rocks. I am a fan of the Protein 2000! I eat there with my girlfriend as much as possible and have never experienced anything "oily".

Veggie Heaven haunts my dreams. I'm a Dallas girl, but I can't leave Austin without a boba tea and a Protein 2000.

Jacqueline is right, Protein 2000 rocks the house.

I love veggie heaven i definitely think that the protein 2000 dish is the best!!!

I've been there a number of times and each time I saw roaches crawing around and once when I lifted up my bowl from my rice...a dead bug!
This place has great food but it is filthy and if your a germ freak this is not the place to eat..unless you are blind.

I've never had a problem with the cleanliness of Veggie Heaven on my many visits. It's occasionally crowded and hard to get around, but I've not seen any insects.

They also keep changing how the food is made. We were great fans (weekly dining) for a couple of years and then the food was horrid. The owner insisted that the recipe had not been changed. We tried again a year or so later and it was bland, bland, bland. Too bad....

whatever.....

veggie heaven is the best.

i think your comment was bland, bland, bland.

I LOVE veggie heaven. I've never had a problem with it being oily or dirty. I'll admit its a bit sketch but protein 2000 makes my life worth living
