Souper Salad

Souper Salad is a chain of soup and salad bars with four stores local to Austin (plus one up in Round Rock). They all are about the same -- large salad bar, four choices of soup, bread, and baked potato. Rather than the all-for-one pricing model of Fresh Choice, you pay only for the bars you use, although going from Salad to Soup and Salad only adds about sixty cents to your bill. After you make your initial food run, you find a seat and one of the staff comes and takes your drink order and assigns you a card with ticks for the items you've chosen.

Their selection is pretty good. They usually have several kinds of greens and an array of fresh veggie toppings. Mustard potato salad and a few kinds of pasta round out the salad offerings. Their soup selection is fairly limited, usually lacking a vegetarian option. I've never tried the potatos, but their three bread choices (blueberry, gingerbread, and cornbread) seem quite good. They also have some prepared sandwiches available from the servers, but nothing vegetarian. ($5)
