Veg Out! Austin

ZuZu originally opened up with two locations here in Austin, but its spot on Bee Caves Road went under, leaving the location off the Mopac access road just north of 2222. This chain apparently started in Houston with stores in Dallas as well. They stress fresh Mexican food, with a strict no lard policy. For the vegetarians, they have a variety of dishes. The black bean nacho salad is good, as are the veggie fajitas, which come with a variety of grilled mushrooms, peppers, and onions, along with two sides and a couple of flour tortillas. The selection also features several really good salsas that you can use to top your entrees, including a tomatillo dip and the tasty salsa roja. ($7)
